An absence must be explained within a set time

The teacher excuses a short absence from class or an assessment; an examiner handles an exam absence. The reason is assessed using documents provided by the student.

What the regulations say

  • You provide the teacher with the reason and documents within 14 days after the reason for absence ends.
  • For an examiner, the deadline is 3 days after the reason for absence ends.
  • Once accepted, the examiner sets an individual exam date and the teacher defines how missed work is made up.
  • The Dean excuses an absence from a diploma exam and sets a new date.
